Lunch Lady Brownies

This article provides a nostalgic recipe for Lunch Lady Brownies, a classic school treat that is easy to make and perfect for sharing. It includes detailed instructions, ingredients, and tips for storage and customization.

I remember going to school and there were always those days when you could tell what was being served. The line for hot lunches would be long whenever the kitchen staff made brownies. No matter how hard I tried, I could not duplicate this recipe. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was when this recipe popped up on my feed one day.

These brownies are the bomb! School was one of those things that had to be, however, School Brownies and the school pizza were the two favorites that made everyone happy in my generation. This is the classic recipe, 50 years old now and still in demand!

If you want to use these brownies as a treat around the holidays, use sprinkles that are colored or designed accordingly. You could add nuts or chips on top, or even slice cherries and place them in various areas of the top and serve.

I like to wrap the brownies in plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator, so I can have a grab and go snack when I am in a rush. I also can easily place them in lunches for the kids and hubby.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do these really taste as good as the school brownies?

These will bring memories flooding back to you. They are super moist, chocolatey and just as delicious as you remember.

Could I add nuts to the recipe?

You could certainly add chopped walnuts or even pecans. I have friends that will add in chocolate chips or peanut butter chips to the batter.

How do I store these?

These can sit on the counter top for 3 to 5 days, although they will not last that long. Cover them with plastic so they do not dry out.
