Born in 1955, Billy Milligan, an American criminal, developed ‘multiple personality disorder’ as a result of childhood abuse.

Astonishingly, he exhibited a total of 24 distinct personalities, each characterized by unique speech patterns, behaviors, and even sitting postures.

In the late 1970s, he became involved in one armed robbery and three sexual assaults. However, following his arrest, psychologists determined that the ‘true’ Billy was unaware of these crimes. They attributed the acts to two of his “undesirable alternate personalities” committing them without Billy’s awareness.

Consequently, Billy was confined to various mental hospitals for a decade rather than serving time in prison.

Milligan’s life came to an end due to cancer at a nursing home in Columbus, Ohio, on December 12, 2014, at the age of 59.
